'Iron Men, Wooden Boats' - The Shackleton Epic Expedition

Set for 2011, this expedition aims to retrace Shackleton's famous 1916 boat journey and climb across South Georgia - a journey that has never been completed since. The team will use a replica of the original James Caird as well as 1916 clothing, equipment, rations and navigational aids.
The expedition provides a unique sponsorship opportunity and will attract substantial media attention, featuring an epic journey, complete with all the personal and physical drama and excitement of the original undertaking, treacherous land- and seascapes and a battle against the odds. A documentary and book about the expedition will follow.
The project is seeking sponsorship support from both corporate sponsors and individuals. Sponsors will benefit from wide international media exposure and presentations to staff and clients. Costs relate mainly to logistical support, clothing and equipment, the construction of the replica James Caird and the transport of the expedition team.
