24th April, 2009. The official launch of the Shackleton expedition 'Double' took place at Dulwich College, Shackleton's old school and the final home of the James Caird.

Yale World Fellows

19th August-15th December, 2009. Tim has been accepted onto Yale's World Fellows Program for 2009, which aims to broaden and strengthen the leadership skills of emerging leaders from across the globe in terms of global issues and challenges. The program also aims to create a network of international decision-makers from a range of disciplines who are connected to Yale and to each other.

OzWater 09, Melbourne - Conference Keynote Speaker

16th-18th March, 2009.  OzWater is one of the world's leading conferences on environment and water.  Tim opened the conference speaking about the significance of climate change on water availability into the 21st century, focusing on challenges and solutions.

 

St Malo and Paris Film and Literature Festivals

March, May, June 2009. The Mawson film has recently been subtitled into French for its appearance at two leading French film and literature festivals:  'Les Nuits Polaires", Paris, March 2009 (a festival dedicated to polar documentaries and films), and 'Les Etonnants Voyageurs at St Malo, 29th May-2nd June, 2009. This festival brings together book publishers, photographers, film producers and persons interested in extreme travel. 'Mawson: Life and Death in Antarctica' will take pride of place in the festival programme for 2009, the festival's 20th year.

 

Visiting Environment Lecture, The Oxford University Centre for the Environment

5th May, 2009.  Tim's talk focused on climate change and the polar regions. It was delivered to graduates and undergraduates at the highly regarded OUCE.

 

New London Architecture Sustainability Lecture

27th May, 2009. NLA is the centre for London's built environment. Its programme of exhibitions, events and publications brings together leading professionals in the public and private sector to share knowledge and identify opportunities throughout the year.

 

Cheltenham Science Festival

3rd June, 2009.  Tim spoke at the prestigious Cheltenham Science Festival looking at the evidence of climate change he has witnessed on his polar expeditions, both north and south.  His talk was supported by stunning images and scientific data.

 

Thames Boat Show, Beale Park

6th-7th June, 2009.  Tim accompanied the replica James Caird to the Thames Boat Show and spoke about the upcoming Shackleton Epic Expedition, 2010/11.

 

Forum for the Built Environment, Birmingham

10th June, 2009. Tim talked to a forum of developers, planners, project managers, architects and consultants about environmental change and sustainability.

 

Cunard, Queen Mary II

13th-19th June, 2009.  Tim spoke on Cunard's flagship vessel, the Queen Mary II, on its voyage from Southampton to New York. Topics included the up-and-coming Shackleton Epic Expedition 2010/11, the Mawson expedition, the history of polar exploration and the evidence of climate change that Tim has witnessed over the years.
