International Polar Year www.ipy.org
The International Polar Year (IPY) 2007–2008 is a huge, coordinated, international science programme. Focusing on a
study of the Arctic and the Antarctic, researchers from over sixty countries participating in more than 200 projects are involved in this two-year study. The poles are now known to be sensitive barometers of environmental change, making polar science vital to our understanding of the planet and the impact our activities have on it. The poles are also home to many different cultures and communities, and their experiences are significant in helping to further understand the Polar Regions.
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Polar Books Project - an IPY project featuring books that reflect the above themes, including Tim's book, Mawson Life and Death in Antarctica
